Andy Rooney of ’60 Minutes’

Andy Rooney, a staple in CBS Sunday Morning special and 60 Minutes for 33 years, died this past Friday. He was 92 years old.

Waking up every Sunday morning and watch CBS was a staple in my house for many year. And it was one of the shows that inspired me to be a journalist someday.

It was plain and simple Rooney’s method of reporting: keep it funny and simple. Rooney was great at doing that. His specials often times discussed his frustration with everyday products like the annoying packaging that seals most of today’s products. He had an ability to adapt to the audience in a caring but yet in a “you were thinking it too” manner. He was an incredible person to watch and the journalism field has lost another on of its greats.

And now…a few minutes with Andy Rooney.
